In the peak ski weeks — Christmas, New Year and the February school holidays — the constraint is airport capacity, not aircraft. Slots are coordinated, ramp parking is allocated in advance, and most aircraft drop passengers and reposition. Requests placed as soon as dates are fixed get materially better options than late ones.
The transfer is part of the plan. Some resorts are 90 minutes from the terminal and some closer to three hours, and helicopter transfers only operate in daylight and suitable weather, so late arrivals are planned by road from the outset.
