The Falcon 8X in service
The Falcon 8X is the only in-production ultra-long-range trijet. In practice its value in our region is airport access: steep-approach capability and short-field performance open destinations that a Global or Gulfstream of similar range cannot always take.
That matters for Alpine winter travel, for London City slots and for constrained regional fields. Approach approvals are operator-specific, so we confirm them per aircraft and per crew rather than per type.
Missions the type is used for
- Long-range travel into airports large jets cannot always use
- Alpine and city-airport access on long sectors
- Government travel with short-field requirements
Route examples that suit its legs
- Riyadh to London City
- Dubai to Geneva then Sion
- Jeddah to Paris Le Bourget
Where these figures come from
All figures above are the manufacturer's published maximum values and vary by serial number, interior configuration and operating conditions. Source: https://www.dassaultfalcon.com/aircraft/falcon-8x/. MEGA does not manufacture or represent any airframer; aircraft are arranged through registered third-party operators and availability is confirmed per aircraft and per date.
How the ultra-long-range trijet class flies
Ultra-long-range aircraft exist to remove the fuel stop from intercontinental flying. Cabins are divided into distinct zones so a group can work, eat and sleep separately, and lower cabin altitudes with high-bandwidth connectivity make an overnight sector genuinely usable.
Range figures published for this class assume defined payloads and still winds; a full cabin against strong headwinds shortens what the aircraft achieves on the day. Airport choice narrows too, since runway length, ramp space and handling capability all have to suit a large airframe.
Other Trijets types
- Falcon 10X — In development — not in service: Announced 7,500 nm design range; not in service
- Falcon 7X — Out of production — still flying: Predecessor to the 8X; large charter fleet
- Falcon 900LX — Out of production — still flying: Three-zone large cabin, short-field capable
Chartering the Falcon 8X
Availability is the deciding factor on any specific type. The Falcon 8X is arranged through registered third-party operators, so whether one can be placed on your trip depends on where an aircraft of that type is positioned, the crew's duty time, and whether the operator's approvals cover the airports and airspace involved. Where the type is not free, the desk offers the closest equivalent in the same class rather than holding a trip open.
Positioning, airport slots, handling, overnight crew costs and any de-icing or curfew constraints are priced into the quote rather than added afterwards, and every figure is confirmed against the actual aircraft and date before it is issued. We publish no rate for any type here, because an honest number depends on the aircraft, the routing and the day.
Frequently asked questions
How many passengers does the Falcon 8X carry?
Typical charter seating is 12 to 14. The exact figure depends on the individual aircraft's interior, since operators configure cabins differently, and on baggage — a full cabin with heavy luggage can change what the aircraft can lift out of a given runway.
How far can the Falcon 8X fly?
The published maximum range is 6,450 nm published, quoted by the manufacturer under ideal conditions with a defined payload. Real sector capability is shorter once passengers, baggage, winds, temperature and reserve fuel are applied, so the operations desk checks each leg against the specific aircraft rather than the brochure figure.
Is the Falcon 8X still in production?
Production status: In production. Status matters for parts support, cabin technology and resale, and it is stated here so no one quotes or budgets against a type that has not entered service or is no longer built.
Does MEGA operate the Falcon 8X?
No. MEGA arranges flights on aircraft operated by licensed third-party operators holding their own air operator certificates. Safety ratings such as ARGUS, IS-BAO or Wyvern are held by the relevant operator and applicability varies by aircraft and operator.
