Private Jet Charter in France
France carries Europe's densest private aviation traffic, from Le Bourget in Paris to the Riviera in summer and the Alps in winter.
Private aviation in France
Paris–Le Bourget (LFPB) is the busiest business aviation airport in Europe and the default for the capital, with several handling agents and a short drive into central Paris outside rush hour. Charles de Gaulle and Orly are used selectively, usually when an aircraft is too large for Le Bourget's constraints or when a connection matters. Toussus-le-Noble (LFPN) and Pontoise (LFPT) serve lighter aircraft.
On the Riviera, Nice (LFMN/NCE) is the primary gateway and one of the busiest business aviation airports in the world during the Grand Prix, the Cannes film festival and the summer months. Cannes–Mandelieu (LFMD) takes smaller aircraft closer to the Croisette, with runway length and noise rules limiting types. Saint-Tropez La Môle (LFTZ) is very restricted; Toulon–Hyères is often the practical alternative.
In winter the Alps take over. Chambéry (LFLB) and Grenoble (LFLS) are the workhorses for Courchevel, Méribel and Val d'Isère, and Annecy and Lyon absorb the overflow. The Courchevel altiport (LFLJ) is a specialist operation with a very short sloped runway, restricted to specifically approved aircraft and crews — it is never a default option.

Permits, slots, customs and handling
- Nice, Cannes and the Alpine airports operate slot and parking restrictions in peak weeks; Cannes and several Alpine fields have noise and curfew rules.
- Le Bourget handling is competitive but peak-hour slots around major Paris events still need to be secured early.
- Courchevel and other altiports require specific aircraft approvals, crew qualification and daylight; availability is confirmed by the operator, never assumed.
- Winter Alpine operations involve de-icing, snow clearance and occasional closures, so schedules carry deliberate buffers.
Seasonal demand
The Riviera runs from May to September with peaks around the Monaco Grand Prix and the Cannes festival; the Alps run from mid-December to early April with school holidays and New Year the tightest. Paris is steady year-round with spring and autumn business peaks and heavy demand during major trade fairs and fashion weeks.

Frequently asked questions
Can we fly directly into Courchevel?
Only with an aircraft and crew specifically approved for the altiport, in daylight and suitable conditions. Most trips use Chambéry or Grenoble with a road or helicopter transfer.
Nice or Cannes for the Riviera?
Nice for most aircraft and all long-haul arrivals. Cannes–Mandelieu is closer to the Croisette but only takes smaller types and applies strict noise rules.
How busy is Nice during the Monaco Grand Prix?
Extremely. Slots and parking are allocated well ahead, drop-and-go is normal, and helicopter transfers into Monaco book out early.
