Private Jet Charter for the Mediterranean Summer
SUMMER SEASON
From late June to early September the Mediterranean is not short of aircraft — it is short of slots, parking and helicopter capacity.
The summer map runs from the Balearics through the Côte d'Azur and the Italian islands to the Aegean and the Ionian. Ibiza, Olbia, Mykonos and Santorini are the pressure points: small aprons, slot restrictions and effectively no overnight parking in peak weeks, so aircraft drop passengers and reposition to Palma, Cagliari, Rome, Athens or the mainland. Nice, Palma, Málaga, Naples, Heraklion and Corfu have more capacity and absorb demand better.
A large share of trips end on a boat, which changes the planning order: the berth and the tender decide the useful arrival window, and the right airport is the one nearest that marina with an available slot — not necessarily the obvious island. Where a helicopter completes the journey, as in Capri, the Amalfi Coast or Monaco, that capacity books out before the aircraft does.
Island hops are short in the air and long on paperwork. A 25-minute sector between Palma and Ibiza is limited by the slot at the far end, not by flight time, and repositioning legs — not the flight you actually take — usually dominate the price in August. Midweek dates, and the weeks either side of the peak, give better aircraft choice for materially less.

When to travel
The season builds through June, peaks from mid-July to the end of August, and eases in September. Late June and September offer the widest aircraft choice, calmer winds in the Aegean and noticeably better pricing. In peak weeks, availability is decided by slots and parking, so the earliest possible request gives the most options.

Frequently asked
Why is an August island hop so expensive?
Because the aircraft usually cannot stay. Positioning legs in and out, plus scarce slots, drive the price far more than the 25 or 40 minutes you spend in the air.
Can you fly us straight to a yacht?
We plan to the nearest airport with a workable slot and arrange the car or tender to the berth. The marina timing decides the arrival window, so we start there.
Which Mediterranean destinations are easiest in peak season?
Palma, Nice, Málaga, Heraklion and Naples have genuine capacity. Ibiza, Olbia, Mykonos and Santorini are the constrained ones.
How far ahead should August be booked?
As soon as the dates are fixed. Aircraft can often be found late; slots and parking on a peak weekend frequently cannot.
MEGA arranges flights on aircraft operated by third-party AOC holders. Airport, slot, parking and altiport details on this page describe how those airports operate and are confirmed with the operator for each trip before it is contracted.
