Private Jet Charter in Malta
Malta is a single-airport country with an outsized aviation footprint, thanks to its position in the central Mediterranean and its aircraft register.
Private aviation in Malta
Malta International (LMML/MLA) at Luqa handles all civil traffic, with business aviation facilities and quick access across the island — nowhere on Malta is far from the airport. Its central Mediterranean position makes it a practical technical and crew-change stop between Europe and North Africa, as well as a destination in its own right for conferences, gaming industry travel and summer leisure.
Gozo is reached by ferry or helicopter from Malta; a small heliport operation exists but is not a substitute for a fixed-wing arrival. Comino has no airfield. For trips ending on a yacht, the marinas at Valletta and Ta' Xbiex are close enough that the airport choice is never the difficult part — the berth and tender timing usually are.
Malta's 9H register and its maintenance and management sector mean many aircraft carry Maltese registration without ever being based on the island. That matters for management, leasing and acquisition conversations rather than for charter routing, and we keep the two separate when advising.

Permits, slots, customs and handling
- Permits and slots are filed by the operating AOC holder; summer weekends and conference weeks are the busiest.
- Malta is a common technical, fuel and crew-change stop between Europe and North Africa, so ramp availability can tighten unexpectedly.
- Gozo transfers are planned as part of the trip, by ferry or helicopter, with realistic timings rather than optimistic ones.
- Aircraft registered in Malta are not necessarily based there; registration and charter availability are separate questions.
Seasonal demand
June to September is the leisure and yacht peak; spring and autumn carry conference and gaming industry traffic. Winter is quiet, with good availability and a steady flow of technical stops.

Frequently asked questions
Can we fly directly to Gozo?
Not by private jet. Gozo is reached by helicopter or ferry from Malta, and we build that transfer into the itinerary.
Is Malta useful as a stopover?
Yes — its position suits fuel, crew-change and technical stops between Europe and North Africa, which is why ramp space is not always as free as the airport's size suggests.
Does a Maltese registration mean the aircraft is in Malta?
No. Many 9H-registered aircraft operate elsewhere entirely. Registration affects management and leasing structures, not where an aircraft can be chartered from.
How MEGA arranges the flight
MEGA arranges every flight through registered third-party operators. Aircraft, crew, permits, slots and handling are confirmed per trip and per date, so nothing on this page is an availability guarantee.
