Why families charter for Umrah

Pilgrimage travel is not ordinary travel. What families tell us matters is the state they arrive in: a crowded terminal after a nine-hour flight, an elderly parent waiting in a queue, a group split across seat rows. A private cabin keeps the party together, allows Ihram to be assumed in privacy, keeps prayer in its time, and ends with a short walk through a private terminal into a waiting vehicle for Makkah. For larger groups, thirty people on one aircraft with one handling and immigration process is simply simpler. See also private jet charter in Saudi Arabia and Jeddah charter.

Permits, slots and why lead time decides the trip

Every private flight into Saudi Arabia needs a GACA landing permit, overflight clearances en route, an airport slot at each end and confirmed apron parking for the time on the ground. During Ramadan and the Dhul Hijjah window, ground capacity at Jeddah is rationed and parking — not the aircraft, not the crew — becomes what decides whether your dates work. Ramadan needs substantial lead time and Hajj considerably more. Where parking cannot be held for a multi-day stay, the aircraft repositions and returns for departure: planned in advance and reflected in the quote.

Ihram and Meeqat — how the cabin is arranged

Aircraft are sourced with an enclosed area suitable for changing into Ihram and a lavatory sized for the purpose, and the operator is briefed so cabin crew are not improvising. Where the operator can accommodate it, the flight crew announce the Meeqat with enough notice, timed on the actual routing. Prayer direction indication and prayer timing are requested as part of the cabin brief, catering is halal by default, and baggage planning allows for the heavier return load including Zamzam water within operator and authority limits. Elderly and reduced-mobility travellers are planned for in advance: steps, airside wheelchair assistance, lie-flat rest and a vehicle at the aircraft. We arrange aircraft and logistics and do not offer religious guidance.

Group, delegation and consolidator charter

Much private pilgrimage movement is arranged by premium Umrah and Hajj travel houses, private concierge clubs, family offices, corporate protocol departments and government delegation offices. That work gets a named controller rather than a general inbox, quotes structured for presentation to your own client, and the option to plan recurring seasonal capacity ahead of Ramadan rather than competing for it week by week. For delegations we add royal and state handling, VIP terminal arrangements, convoy coordination and discretion about who is on board.

Umrah and Hajj charter — FAQs

Can I charter a private jet for Umrah?

Yes. Umrah charter into Jeddah and Madinah is core work for our Saudi desk, for single families through to large delegations, including permits, slots, private terminal handling and the Makkah transfer.

Which airport should I fly into for Makkah?

King Abdulaziz International in Jeddah (JED / OEJN) is closest and the usual choice. Madinah (MED / OEMA) suits itineraries beginning at the Prophet's Mosque and is sometimes better when Jeddah parking is exhausted.

How far in advance should a pilgrimage charter be booked?

Four to eight weeks minimum for Ramadan, considerably longer for Hajj, and one to two weeks outside those windows. The binding constraint is apron parking, slots and permits rather than the aircraft.

How much does a private jet for Umrah cost?

We do not publish a figure. The quote is built from aircraft category, departure city, positioning, dates, passengers and baggage, permits, handling, parking and crew duty, with pilgrimage peaks affecting availability.

Can the crew tell us when we reach the Meeqat?

Where the operator can accommodate it, yes — requested as part of the cabin brief and confirmed per flight rather than promised as a standing feature.

Do you handle group charter for travel agencies?

Yes, including recurring seasonal capacity, with a named controller for each account.

Are the operators safety-audited?

Flights are performed by licensed third-party operators reviewed per mission. ARGUS Platinum, IS-BAO or Wyvern Wingman ratings belong to the operator and are confirmed at quotation; MEGA does not hold or claim them.
