Private Jet Charter in Greece
Greece has the most concentrated island season in the Mediterranean, and its small island airports — not the aircraft — set the limits.
Private aviation in Greece
Athens (LGAV/ATH) is the mainland hub, with business aviation handling, straightforward customs and the base for most domestic island hops. Thessaloniki (LGTS/SKG) serves the north, Halkidiki and the route to Mount Athos, and Kalamata and Preveza cover parts of the Peloponnese and Ionian mainland.
In the islands, Mykonos (LGMK/JMK) and Santorini (LGSR/JTR) are the headline destinations and the hardest to arrange in July and August: both are slot-restricted with very limited parking, so aircraft routinely drop and reposition to Athens. Crete is served by Heraklion (LGIR/HER) and Chania, Rhodes (LGRP/RHO) and Corfu (LGKR/CFU) handle their own resort traffic, and Paros, Naxos and Skiathos accept only smaller types with short-field performance.
A large share of Greek trips end on a boat. That changes planning: the right airport is the one closest to the marina and the tender, not necessarily the closest to the island's main town. We check the marina, the transfer and the slot together, and say plainly when a same-day island hop is not realistic.

Permits, slots, customs and handling
- Mykonos and Santorini apply slot and parking restrictions through the summer; repositioning to Athens is standard rather than exceptional.
- Smaller Cycladic airports accept limited aircraft types and operate published daylight hours.
- Yacht joins drive airport choice — the marina and tender timing are planned with the flight, not after it.
- Meltemi winds can disrupt Aegean island operations in mid-summer, so alternates and buffers are built into schedules.
Seasonal demand
Mid-June to early September is peak, with the last two weeks of August the tightest. May, June, September and October offer far better availability and calmer winds. Athens carries business traffic through the winter.

Frequently asked questions
Why can't the aircraft wait at Mykonos?
Parking is very limited in season. Most aircraft drop passengers and reposition to Athens, which is normal practice and priced into the trip.
What is the best airport for a yacht join?
The one closest to the marina with an available slot. That is often not the most obvious island airport, so we plan the flight and the tender together.
Can you fly into Paros or Naxos?
With smaller aircraft that meet the short-field and daylight limits, yes. Otherwise Mykonos, Santorini or Athens with a ferry or helicopter transfer is the realistic plan.
How MEGA arranges the flight
