The Egypt Luxury Circuit by Private Jet

CAIRO · LUXOR · ASWAN · ABU SIMBEL

Four Nile Valley fields, one aircraft and one crew — the temples, the river and Lake Nasser flown as a single planned itinerary.

WHY FLY THE CIRCUIT

Egypt's cultural sites, flown rather than driven.

One aircraft and one crew held across the whole circuit rather than four unrelated bookings.

Flights built backwards from cruise embarkation, temple visiting hours and guide schedules.

Short Nile Valley hops replacing long road transfers between sites.

Ground handling, prior permission and ramp time arranged at each field in advance.

A single senior-led desk coordinating the operator, permits and every leg of the itinerary.

THE ITINERARY

Four legs along the Nile.

Block times are indicative for the aircraft shown and remain subject to routing, weight, weather and the operator's own performance planning. Every leg is confirmed for your dates before the circuit is booked.

Leg 01

Cairo to Luxor

HECA / CAI · HESX → HELX / LXR

Block time 1h 05m

Typical types Citation XLS+, Praetor 500

The classic opening leg. Luxor International sits on the Nile within reach of Karnak, the Valley of the Kings and the West Bank, and the flight replaces a road journey of roughly four hours. The general-aviation apron is modest, so parking is confirmed early in the cooler October–April sightseeing season.

Leg 02

Luxor to Aswan

HELX / LXR → HESN / ASW

Block time 0h 30m – 0h 35m

Typical types Citation CJ3+, Phenom 300

A short upriver hop to the upper-Nile gateway. Aswan International has a long runway, comfortable for business jets, and a short transfer to the corniche, the cruise and dahabiya moorings, Philae and the High Dam. Vessel embarkation windows usually set the timing of this leg, not the flight itself.

Leg 03

Aswan to Abu Simbel

HESN / ASW → HEBL / ABS

Block time 0h 35m – 0h 45m

Almost always flown as a day sector: in during the morning, the temples of Ramesses II and Nefertari above Lake Nasser, then out again. The field is small and geared to seasonal traffic, so prior permission, ground time and the vehicle at the aircraft are arranged in advance rather than on arrival.

Leg 04

Return north or onward

HEBL / ABS · HESN / ASW → HECA / CAI, HRG, OR INTERNATIONAL

Block time 2h 00m – 2h 15m from Abu Simbel to Cairo

Typical types Legacy 500, Challenger 350

The circuit closes back through Cairo for an international departure, or turns east for a Red Sea finish at Hurghada or Marsa Alam. Long-range departures from Upper Egypt are normally routed via Cairo rather than flown direct.

PERMITS AND CLEARANCES

Egyptian permit guidance for a multi-stop circuit.

A four-field domestic itinerary is a permitting exercise as much as a flying one. Here is how it is actually handled, without assumed timelines.

Permits are filed by the operating AOC holder

Egyptian landing and overflight permits for the circuit are filed by the certified operator flying the aircraft, not by the passenger. MEGA arranges charter with registered third-party operators and coordinates the filing on your behalf; MEGA does not operate aircraft.

Domestic sectors are approved field by field

Cairo, Luxor, Aswan and Abu Simbel are each cleared individually, with prior permission, handling hours, ramp time and parking confirmed with the ground handler at every stop. Abu Simbel in particular is not staffed for unannounced arrivals.

Documentation is prepared ahead of the first leg

A full passenger and crew manifest with passport details is required for the permit filing. Supplying the final names, passport data and itinerary early protects the whole circuit, because a late change on one leg can move the others.

Heat shapes the schedule in Upper Egypt

Summer daytime temperatures at Luxor, Aswan and Abu Simbel affect take-off performance, which in turn affects payload and fuel. Departures in the hot months are planned for the early morning or evening rather than mid-afternoon, and we quote on that basis instead of promising a schedule the aircraft cannot fly.

Lead time is confirmed at enquiry, not assumed

Permit and prior-permission lead times depend on the operator, the aircraft registration, the fields involved and the season. The desk confirms the actual timeline for your dates when the circuit is quoted rather than quoting a standard figure.

AIRCRAFT SELECTION

Aircraft suited to the Nile Valley.

Short sectors, small fields and Upper Egypt heat drive the choice. Selection is based on the real mission, and every aircraft remains subject to operator availability and performance review.

SHORT NILE HOPS

Light jet

Well suited to Luxor–Aswan–Abu Simbel sectors and small fields, with modest payload and quick turnarounds.

THE USUAL CIRCUIT CHOICE

Midsize jet

Covers every leg of the circuit with cabin comfort for a family or small group, and handles the Cairo sectors comfortably.

PAYLOAD MARGIN IN THE HEAT

Super-midsize jet

Preferred where full-payload summer departures from Upper Egypt are involved, thanks to stronger performance margins.

INTERNATIONAL LEGS

Large-cabin jet

Considered for the inbound and outbound international sectors when party size, cabin zones or luggage make space the deciding factor.

HOW IT WORKS

From enquiry to the first temple, in four steps.

01

Share the circuit

Dates, the order of Luxor, Aswan and Abu Simbel, passenger count, baggage and any cruise or vessel join.

02

Quote

MEGA reviews suitable aircraft with registered operators and presents confirmed options with the real permit timeline.

03

Confirm

Approve the operating carrier, aircraft and included services; documentation is collected for the permit filing.

04

Fly

The desk coordinates permits, handling and ramp time at every field and stays available across the whole circuit.

CIRCUIT QUESTIONS

Egypt Nile circuit FAQs.

Can one private jet cover Cairo, Luxor, Aswan and Abu Simbel?

Yes. The usual arrangement holds one aircraft and crew across the circuit, which is why crew duty and ground time between legs are planned alongside the flight times. Aircraft are not based at Luxor, Aswan or Abu Simbel, so the aircraft positions in and waits through the itinerary.

How long is the flight from Aswan to Abu Simbel?

Around 35 to 45 minutes in a light or midsize jet. It is normally flown as a day sector from Aswan, with the ground time built around the time you want to be standing in front of the temples.

Do I need permits for a private jet in Egypt?

Egyptian landing and overflight permits are required and are filed by the operating AOC holder using the passenger and crew manifest. The actual lead time depends on the operator, aircraft registration, fields and season, and is confirmed with your quote.

When is the best time to fly the Nile circuit?

The cooler October to April window is the main cultural season and also the busiest for ramp space at Luxor and Aswan. Summer travel is possible, but Upper Egypt departures are planned for the cooler hours because of take-off performance.

Can the circuit connect with a Nile cruise or dahabiya?

Yes. Luxor and Aswan are the usual join and leave points for private vessels. Share the vessel and embarkation window at enquiry stage and the flights are planned around it; the vessel itself is confirmed by its own operator.

Can the circuit finish on the Red Sea?

It often does. Hurghada and Marsa Alam are short sectors from Luxor or Aswan, which makes a temples-then-coast itinerary straightforward before the international departure.
