Why fly privately to Circuit of the Americas
Circuit of the Americas sits south-east of Austin, close enough to Austin-Bergstrom that the airport becomes part of the event. Race weekend brings a very large number of general aviation movements into a city whose infrastructure is not sized for it, and the airport authority manages arrivals accordingly, with reservation systems and parking allocations.
That makes Austin a race where the aircraft is the easy part and the slot is the hard part. Guests who commit early get Bergstrom; guests who do not fly into San Marcos, Georgetown or San Antonio and drive. Neither is bad, but one is a decision and the other is a consequence.
The upside is a genuinely short transfer and a city that is enjoyable to be in. October in central Texas is warm and dry, and the weekend works well as a three-night trip combining the race with Austin itself.
Austin also draws a large Mexican and Latin American audience alongside domestic US guests, so we see a lot of short international sectors requiring customs planning as well as domestic legs.
Race weekend timeline
Dates follow the official 2026 FIA calendar; the promoter publishes session times nearer the weekend.
- Wednesday 21 - Thursday 22 October — The window for a comfortable arrival at your preferred FBO. [VERIFY final session schedule]
- Friday 23 October — Practice. Austin arrivals peak, and reservation systems are at their tightest.
- Saturday 24 October — Qualifying. Roads to the circuit are heavily loaded from mid-morning.
- Sunday 25 October — Race day, with one of the busiest departure peaks in US general aviation.
- Monday 26 October — Far easier departures, and the day we would normally recommend.
The 2026 United States Grand Prix is scheduled for 23-25 October 2026 at Circuit of the Americas, Austin.
Airports and FBOs for the United States Grand Prix
Central Texas gives us four workable arrival points, each trading proximity against availability.
- Austin-Bergstrom International (AUS / KAUS) — Closest to Circuit of the Americas with multiple FBOs and full capability. Race weekend arrivals are managed by reservation and parking is allocated in advance. [VERIFY drive time to COTA]
- San Marcos Regional (HYI / KHYI) — A frequently used overflow field between Austin and San Antonio, with good handling and easier parking.
- Georgetown Executive (GTU / KGTU) — North of Austin, practical for light and midsize aircraft and for parking relief.
- San Antonio International (SAT / KSAT) — Full capability further away, used for large cabins, long-haul arrivals and aircraft parking across the weekend.
Your quote names the airport, FBO, reservation status and parking plan, including any repositioning between your arrival and departure.
Aircraft options by group size
- Light jet — 4-6 passengers. Efficient for Texas and short domestic sectors such as Dallas or Houston.
- Midsize jet — 6-8 passengers. Comfortable across the US interior for a small party with luggage.
- Super-midsize jet — 8-10 passengers. Stand-up cabin and hold space for a sponsor group from either US coast.
- Large-cabin jet — 10-14 passengers. Non-stop from London, São Paulo or Los Angeles with a divided cabin.
- Ultra-long-range jet — 12-16 passengers. Non-stop from the Gulf and Europe, arriving rested for Friday running.
- VIP airliner — Larger parties. For hospitality groups and sponsor parties travelling as one.
Passenger counts are typical configurations, not fixed seat maps. Full specifications are on the charter fleet pages.

How it works
Request: send your route, dates and party size by form, phone or WhatsApp. Receive options: we check what can actually be operated — aircraft, slots, parking and handling — and return options with the operating carrier named. Wheels up: we handle permits, slots, FBO, handling, catering and transfers, with one controller reachable throughout.
Why travellers use MEGA for event charter
We are a charter and flight support company based in the Gulf, and event weekends are a large part of what the desk handles across the season. Our US work gives the desk day-to-day contact with the FBO network that handles this weekend, including reservation-managed arrivals and out-of-town parking. That knowledge shows up in unglamorous ways: which apron fills first, when a departure slot needs to be held, and how long handling really takes when everyone wants the same hour.
Every flight is performed by a licensed third-party operator. We review the operator, the aircraft and the crew against the mission, and where a carrier holds an ARGUS Platinum, IS-BAO or Wyvern Wingman credential that credential is theirs and is confirmed when we quote. We do not present it as ours.
Service is senior-led. One controller owns your trip rather than passing it between a sales team and an operations team, and that person is reachable directly at any hour of the weekend.
Discretion is assumed rather than advertised. We do not publish passenger names, we do not photograph departures, and we do not confirm who is flying to anyone who asks. Beyond the flight itself we coordinate terminal selection, ground handling, transfers and catering so nothing is left between suppliers.
United States Grand Prix private jet charter — FAQs
How much does a private jet to the United States Grand Prix cost?
There is no fixed figure. A charter price is built from the aircraft category, the departure point, positioning, the dates, passenger and baggage load, airport handling, parking, permits and crew duty. Race weekend demand also shapes what is available. We quote each request individually rather than publish a rate that would not hold.
How early should I book for race weekend?
Earlier is materially better. Austin manages race weekend arrivals through reservation systems and parking allocations that fill early, so eight weeks or more gives you the best chance of Bergstrom itself. Short-notice requests are still worth making — we will tell you honestly what can genuinely be operated rather than hold a date we cannot fly.
Which airport is closest to Circuit of the Americas?
Austin-Bergstrom, by a clear margin, and it is the first choice when a reservation and parking are available. San Marcos, Georgetown and San Antonio are the practical alternatives, each adding road time. [VERIFY drive times]
Will we need to park the aircraft out of town?
Quite possibly. Austin's ramp space is heavily oversubscribed during the race, so operators often drop passengers and reposition to another Texas field until departure. We state the plan in the quote.
Are helicopter transfers used at COTA?
Helicopter shuttles have featured at this event, but arrangements are set by the promoter and local authorities each year, so we confirm availability rather than assume it. [VERIFY event helicopter access]
Can you arrange ground transfers and catering?
Yes. Chauffeured transfers between the executive terminal, your hotel and the circuit, in-flight catering to your preference, and airport handling are coordinated by the same controller handling your flight, so the whole movement sits with one team.
Can a sponsor group or larger party travel together?
Yes. Larger parties are handled either on a VIP airliner or across several aircraft arriving in a coordinated window, with ground movement managed as one schedule and one point of contact.
Are the aircraft and operators safety-rated?
Flights are performed by licensed third-party operators, and we review the proposed operator, aircraft and crew for each mission. Where an operator holds a rating such as ARGUS Platinum, IS-BAO registration or Wyvern Wingman, that rating belongs to the operator and is confirmed at the point of quotation. MEGA does not hold or claim those ratings itself.
Is MEGA affiliated with Formula 1 or the race organisers?
No. We are an independent charter and flight support company arranging travel for people attending the event. We are not a partner, sponsor or organiser, and we sell no race tickets or hospitality packages.
