Private Jet Etiquette: A Quiet Guide for First-Time Charterers
Tipping, dress, dietary requests, kids and pets — what experienced travelers actually do.
Private Jet Etiquette
There are no rules posted in the cabin. Here is what experienced charter guests actually do.
Arrival
Arrive 15 minutes before scheduled departure. The aircraft will not leave without you, but everyone notices.
Catering
Special requests are welcomed up to 12 hours before departure. Be specific — operators source from premium caterers and cannot improvise.
Tipping
Tipping the crew is not expected, but appreciated on long missions. USD 100–300 per crew member on a transcontinental flight is customary.
Dress
Underdressed is fine; pyjamas are not. Business casual remains the safe default.
Kids and pets
Both welcome on most aircraft. Brief the operator at booking — child seats and pet relief stops are standard requests.
